The Chair Has Always Been Sacred

There's a task you're avoiding right now.

You know exactly which one. It's been on the list for weeks. It has to get done. This is on you, and you know it. Nobody else can do it, and every time you sit down to face it something in you says not today. So it moves to tomorrow, and tomorrow it moves again, and it sits in the back of your mind on your one day off. I've been there more times than I'd like to admit.

That task is not a character flaw. It's a system that was never built for you.

My chair at Crystal Crosby - The Hair Lair has always been sacred. A safe space to build, to break, to beautify. Running a small business isn't that different.

For thirty years people have sat in that chair and told me things they hadn't told anyone. What they were scared of. What they were about to leave. What they wanted so badly they couldn't say it out loud without their voice going. The chair holds it. That is understood. What a gift.

And in thirty years of listening, I learned the thing that actually matters. Most people don't need to be fixed. They need someone to look at what they're already carrying and see something magnificent in it. The same way I can look at a face and know the cut before I've picked up the shears.

Then I taught myself to build systems.

I've been fascinated with tech since I was coloring pixels in a computer art piece I was making for fun in the late nineties, and it never left me. I once spent an entire weekend hunting down the code for one exact shade of red on my MySpace profile. Not close to it. That one. If you know, you know.

Then I watched my industry crumble harder than most. We work without safety nets. No benefits, no backup, no one paying us to simply show up. In this business we only eat what we create.

So I got excited about the challenge. Forced me to make something out of nothing, which turns out to be one of my love languages. That's the alchemy. Taking what looks like nothing and pulling something real out of it.

Here's what happens on the 16th.

Let me put my hair up. You all know what that means.

When you register, you'll get a set of questions about your business. Real ones. What you dread, what falls through when you get busy, what you'd do with five hours back. Answer them honestly. Just like in our hair haven, what you send me stays with me.

Then I build. Before we ever meet, I'll draw your blueprint. Not a template with your name dropped in. Yours. The map of what your business could run without you, and the exact language to make it happen.

The first hour, we go person by person. I show you what I found and walk you through your blueprint, and everyone watches. You'll recognize yourself in someone else's business, I promise you that.

The second hour we work. Together, out loud, side by side, on our own businesses at the same time. When someone hits a wall we stop and take it apart in front of everyone, because that wall is somebody else's wall too.

I'll hold your hand through every step of it. Nobody gets left behind on a screen.

You leave with the treasure map to your own gold. We've already walked the first stretch of it together, so you're covered. The gold is in your hand if you'll mine it.

And if you get tired of digging, hand it to me. I'll take over whenever you're ready. This isn't a chapter that closes when we log off.
